Weekly Information - Week of September 16
Concept - Time Management
Quote: “Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week.” Anonymous
Swimming is a time intensive sport. Therein lies the beauty of the sport. Look at your soccer friends who practice two times each week and play a game for 45 minutes on weekends. The sport also generally runs in the fall and is over in a few short months. In fact, many sports have seasons and do not take the time commitment that swimming does.
I say the “off season” in swimming is the 15 minutes it takes to flip a pool from short course to long course.
There are many reasons why swimming is a great sport to teach youth the important life lessons children will use to be successful in school, work and life.
Time management is at the top of the list of benefits. Swimmers understand time more than most - 10 seconds is a lot of rest, 10 seconds is the start, the middle or the end of a conversation with a teammate, 10 seconds is enough time to receive correction from a coach and 10 seconds is a perfect amount of rest to swim the next segment well!
